The Context

"in order to survive society, i need to bend my home" is a poem I wrote and was eventually selected to be featured in one of my university's literary magazine, "Spitfire Magazine". This is a free-verse, lament style poem that was eventually edited for the submission, but is realistically a pretty raw poem.

This is a work that was inspired by both fantasy (think Avatar: The Last Airbender) and internal conflict, as similarly explored in my poem "toska". However, while "toska" explores damage control, anxiety, and paranoia, this poem focuses instead on internalized guilt and how certain (negative) experiences can drive one into isolation mode or a questioning of identity.

I am hoping this is the first of a few parts and I can explore the different elements! This is Earth, so think grounding, familiarity, and stability — except it is all shaken up.
